We escaped Las Vegas by breaking even with a 1-1 split, cashing Austin Dillon over Kurt Busch and narrowly missing the top-five play as Tyler Reddick finished seventh. Dillon was a two-unit play, so we were able to put a little profit into our pockets. Anytime you leave Vegas with a few dollars more in your bag of loot than what you came with should actually be considered a big win. Glass half-full, right?

Phoenix, Arizona. Where champions are crowned. The "West Coast Swing" wraps up with the one-mile short track that's as flat as a pancake, but the pancake is sitting on the little lip on the edge of your plate. You won't need your protracter for this eight-degree beauty. The two takeaways here are that it's flat and don't write gambling articles when you're hungry.

Last weekend, we gained a useful data point to reference going forward on what the cookie-cutter 1.5-mile tracks may look like. It wasn't much help for the current task at hand, however. We're going to lean on the historical data a little more than usual, but we've still found a big-time bet for the gang.
