Darius Garland To Record A Double-Double (+135 at DraftKings)

Outside of all the benefits that come from having Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell together, a sneaky benefit of having two guards that can run the offense is the ability for it to stay on the tracks if one is out. That has been very useful especially as of late with the time Mitchell has missed.

Garland is averaging 9.8 assists on 14.6 potential assists in the last five games without Mitchell and Garland has two double-doubles in that time. Garland is a funnel for touch time when Mitchell has been out, even with Caris LeVert taking his place in the starting lineup. Take Mitchell’s status out of the equation and Garland is averaging 9.1 assists in the last two weeks with four double-doubles in his last seven games.

The matchup today is juicy as well. The Cavs are in Houston to take on a Rockets team on the second night of a back-to-back and has had trouble slowing down lead guards all season. Houston also turns the ball over more than any team in the NBA, so there should be more transition opportunities than normal, which could lead to easy assists for Garland. The matchup, usage, and the rest spot make this a play.
