Week 1 IDP Waiver Wire: Pickups & Targets (Fantasy Football 2022)

Your draft is over and you look over your squad and may not like what you see right away. Although I recommend waiting to make any moves until Week 1 kicks off, you might want to make some pre-emptive moves to get ahead of your league mates. Training camp battles have settled and roles are a bit more defined, so we have a bit more information. The waiver wire is going to be your most important asset throughout the season and I'll help you scour the wire for those IDP gems.

As we head into Week 1, here are some waiver wire moves you might want to consider.

Linebacker

Mykal Walker, LB, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta's linebacker situation has been a tricky one to navigate all off-season. Deion Jones had shoulder surgery which made him the subject of trade rumors. Over the preseason, Mykal Walker wore the dot and was the three-down linebacker during the games that don't count. Last week, news came down that Jones would be placed on IR which means he's going to be out the first four games of the season - at minimum. This solidifies Walker's role as play caller of the defense and a three-down role. In his limited time on the field, Walker has flashed. Over 578 defensive snaps, he's produced a 13.8% tackle rate while contributing five defended passes, an INT, and a forced fumble.
