March Madness Elite 8 Odds, Predictions, and Bets

The Sweet 16 was another exciting round of games, with Gonzaga coming back from a significant halftime deficit but they needed a deep three-pointer from Julian Strawther to lock up the win over UCLA. The Zags now move onto the Elite 8 with another tough game against the UConn Huskies.

2023 March Madness: Elite 8 Bets

UConn -2 (-110 at DraftKings)

Shane beat me to this at -1 in our discord, but I absolutely love the Huskies here still at 2. It took a 10-minute spell without a UCLA field goal for the Zags to win on a last-second shot. UCLA was also without Adem Bona, who was supposed to shut down Drew Timme, who went for 36 points. The Huskies match up much better against Timme and Gonzaga with Adama Sonogo, the 13^th-ranked defense, and 3rd-ranked offense, according to KenPom. Gonzaga’s defense is still a major problem, ranking 73^rd in adjusted efficiency margin and outside the top 100 in raw efficiency. Gonzaga would be just the 7^th team in the last 20 years to make the final four with a raw defensive rating outside the top 100. Their offense is certainly good enough to carry them, but their defense is uniquely bad for a team making this type of run in the tournament.
