Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Week 5: Deshaun Watson Has A Great Matchup

Quarterback Streaming Week 5

Week 4 brought some more juicy stat lines for quarterbacks. Four quarterbacks threw for at least 345 yards. There were also 11 quarterbacks who finished with at least two passing touchdowns. That included Sam Darnold, who had three touchdown passes against the Packers.

As we turn our attention to Week 5, bye weeks are here. The Eagles, Lions, Titans, and Chargers are all off, meaning that those who drafted Jalen Hurts and Jared Goff will be in the market for a streaming option.

For streaming purposes, 4for4’s Schedule-Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) is a metric we rely heavily on to determine weekly matchup strength. As the season progresses and more data is available, aFPA becomes more and more reliable, using rolling 10-week data. Targets and efficiency metrics are also considered when choosing weekly streamers.

To provide advice you can implement, candidates for streaming must be rostered in no more than 40% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.

Week 4 Recap

Darnold came through for us again, finishing at QB9 for the week. He is the only quarterback in the league who has thrown at least two touchdown passes in all four games this season. He has 11 total touchdown passes, putting him on pace to blow by his previous career high of 19 touchdown passes in a season. With him currently being rostered in 55% of Yahoo leagues, he is no longer eligible for this column. We also received a valuable performance from Andy Dalton, who finished as QB13.

On the negative side of things, Gardner Minshew II was a flop. The Raiders beat the Browns, but they relied on their running game and defense to do so. Minshew only attempted 24 passes, finishing with 130 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. It marked the first time this season that he finished a game with fewer than 200 passing yards and without a touchdown.

Deshaun Watson (Browns) at Commanders

Watson produced another muted stat line last week, throwing for 176 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Raiders. He has yet to throw for at least 200 yards in a game this season. He has a total of just four touchdown passes to go along with three interceptions.

Watson did rush for 32 yards against the Raiders, giving him a total of 117 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown for the season. The Browns should need to throw a lot against the Commanders, who are averaging 30.3 points per game. The Commanders don’t have a great defense with their secondary being a particular area of weakness for them. They have given up 10 passing touchdowns, which is the most in the NFL. In total, the Commanders rank 30th in aFPA to quarterbacks this season. Watson has the potential to throw for at least 200 yards and multiple touchdowns in this matchup.
