Arian Foster received injections for his back

Texans HC Gary Kubiak said RB Arian Foster got injections before Minnesota game. Kubiak said, "They tell me these injections take time. We're taking our time."

Fantasy Impact:

Foster’s back pain has crept into his legs, thus the injections. Per McLain, Foster will not return to Monday’s practice as the team hoped, and he will likely miss the entire preseason. McLain added that if he’s Kubiak, he has to be concerned about Foster being ready for Week 1. If you already drafted Foster, getting Ben Tate off your wire – if he’s still there – is a good idea. If you are keeping Foster, you may have to target Tate a round or two higher than you hoped now. If you're drafting soon, we'd recommend shying away from Foster for most of the first round. It sounds as if he may be ready for Week 1, but then again, he might miss 1-2 games as well. We'll update our rankings today so you can get an idea of how far we're moving him down our boards.

We asked our injury expert, Russ Manalastas, about Foster's injury and he had this to say: "Not sounding good for him heading into season. If oral meds, rehab and injections aren’t reducing Foster’s back/leg pain, next route most doctors would go is surgery. Many moving parts when it comes to back pain that goes into legs but surgery now a possibility if Foster doesn’t improve significantly. Being a physical therapist addressing the pain first and foremost is the key as diagnostic tests, etc. are overused and results are many times coincidental to symptoms."
