49ers Kyle Williams is expected to open as the 49ers' No. 2 wide receiver. Coach Jim Harbaugh said he has been impressed with what he's seen from Williams, who sustained a season-ending knee injury last November. Williams did not play in any of the four exhibition games, but Harbaugh likes what he has seen in practices.
"He's had an extremely good camp," Harbaugh said. "(He's) getting better, getting faster. I think he's come back stronger and faster than he was before. That's so important when you're coming off a big injury to come back stronger and fitter than before. Because if you come back the same, there's a chance the same thing will happen.
"You notice that he's a better, stronger version of himself."
If this is the case, it would throw some cold water on the positive buzz surrounding Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton. We won't know for certain until we see how the snaps are divvied up.
