Belichick: Would take 'quite a bit' for Dion Lewis to pass James White on the depth chart
On the topic of Patriots RB Dion Lewis and how his return would impact James White:
"I think James White is a good player. What he does is good. Could somebody do it better? I don't know. But it would take quite a bit, I would say, based on where he is and how consistent he's been with what he's done," Bill Belichick said. "It would take somebody playing pretty good to be better than him."
Lewis was very productive last year, averaging 17.5 fantasy points (PPR) in seven games. But it sounds as if he has some serious work to do if he's going to overtake White on the depth chart. White has posted low-end RB2 numbers in PPR formats (13.9 per game) since Tom Brady's return.
