Broncos anticipate RBs Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay 'both playing enough'
Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay have been dividing the reps with first- and second-team offense during camp.
Coach Vic Fangio said deciding between Gordon and Lindsay as the starter, “will play out. I anticipate them both playing enough to where we really don’t have to designate a starter.”
Fangio’s point is well taken, the story said. In today’s NFL, having two backs isn’t a luxury as much as it is a requirement to endure the 16-game, 1,000-snap grind. Gordon's teammates called him a "dominant downhill runner" so it's possible he sees more early down action with Lindsay as a third down back. But both players have proven to be three-down backs, so it's possible they split series vs. downs. We have Gordon ranked 20th and Lindsay 37th in our rankings.
