Broncos hope to "finally establish the true split" at running back
Yahoo's NFL reporter Charles Robinson is currently traveling to training camps and just visited Denver. He tweeted out his take on the running back situation, "The Broncos are feeling really good about RB Royce Freeman right now. To the point that they are hoping to finally establish the true split-touch situation that they envisioned between Freeman and Phillip Lindsay last season. They feel like that plan is fully on track for 2019."
Royce Freeman will continue to get his shot this season and it looks like the team wants him to handle a good chunk of the lead back work. Phillip Lindsay outplayed him last season, but they like what they have in Freeman, at least as an early-down runner and he has improved this offseason according to reports.
Robinson tweeted his thoughts before the Broncos signed Theo Riddick, but Riddick isn't a threat to Freeman or Lindsay as a runner, as he'll continue his specialty as a receiver, which will likely cut into every running back's possible targets. In the end, the lack of faith in Lindsay to lead the team is a legitimate concern for him in fantasy, especially on a team that doesn't project to score many points per game.
