Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who left Sunday’s game versus the Cardinals with a shoulder injury, says that his X-rays came back negative but he will have an MRI on Monday to determine the extend of the injury.
Winston was hurt attempting a throw during the second quarter of the game when Cardinals pass rusher Chandler Jones dropped the 23-year-old gunslinger to the ground while the Bucs were being shut out by Arizona. Shortly after, Ryan Fitzpatrick took over for Winston. Fortunately for Tampa Bay, Fitzpatrick carried the workload well, completing 22 of 32 passes for 290 yards, three touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Winston was seen on the sidelines throwing as if he was going to return to the field but never did. Following the game, Winston seemed optimistic and felt that the injury was minor, the story said. Winston told Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, that he was in pain but didn’t feel that it was anything serious at all. Rick Stroud's tweet within the story said Winston expects to play Week 7. Keep in mind it's hard to trust a player's stance on an injury so we'll monitor the situation this week.
