Rookie Roy Miller took first-team reps at defensive tackle while the team decided to rest starter Ryan Sims, Raheem Morris said Friday.
Sims does not have an injury but appears on the report as having not practiced because of a 'team decision.'
Therefore, Miller took all the first-team reps on defense Friday during one of the final tune-ups for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Bucs plan to use a rotation of at least seven defensive linemen in the game.
When the depth chart was released earlier in the week, Miller was backing up Sims.
"Roy was going to work with the first (team) no matter what,'' Morris said. "We've got that constant rolling (players) in. We just held Ryan Sims today. We had that extra day. Yesterday we held (Michael) Clayton, we held A.B. (Antonio Bryant). He was going to work in there regardless .''
Morris said that cornerback E.J. Biggers (shoulder) is out for the game. Tight end John Gilmore (ankle) and linebacker Adam Hayward (ankle) are doubtful. Receivers Antonio Bryant (knee) and Michael Clayton (ankle) are listed as probable. Defensive end Kyle Moore (groin) is questionable and Sims is probable.
