Burress to Testify to Grand Jury Wednesday

The lawyer for former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress confirmed via e-mail that his client will testify before the grand jury on Wednesday morning. Burress is facing two counts of felony gun possession and his attorney, Ben Brafman, is clearly hoping Burress' testimony will result in the grand jury's deciding against indictment.

Brafman said Monday afternoon Manhattan district attorney Robert Morgenthau's comments to the New York Post in Monday's editions might have "compromised" the grand jury's objectivity and independence in this case.

Also, current Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce will reportedly soon be facing the same charge as Burress. Pierce's attorney, Michael Bachner, told the Post the DA's office has informed him they will pursue gun-possession charges against Pierce, who allegedly transported the gun from the Manhattan night club to Burress' Totowa home after the November incident.
