According to The Athletic, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver has been impressing daily at camp, and is looking “like an absolute steal”.
The 11th receiver taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chase Claypool was considered by some as a raw receiver who may be asked to move to tight end. Enter the Steelers, a team who places a premium on the elite blocking skill set Claypool possesses. Claypool may not excel at the full route tree, but similar to D.K. Metcalf, if you stick to asking him to do what he does well, he can flourish. It comes as no surprise that Claypool is impressing in camp, and even getting first team reps when Diontae Johnson or JuJu Smith-Schuster are not on the field. However, it remains to be seen if he can push James Washington for the role as the starter in three wide sets.
