The Kansas City Chiefs will play to win their final regular season game against the Raiders. Unless they don’t.
That was the message from Chiefs coach Andy Reid on Monday. He said the Chiefs are planning to play to beat the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday “as we sit here right now."
The Chiefs have clinched a playoff spot, and Reid left the impression he could change his mind and rest some players against the Raiders. That’s what he did for the Chiefs’ final game against the Chargers in 2013 after they had clinched a playoff spot. The difference is that back then the Chiefs had no chance to win the AFC West.
Resting players would be an odd stance this time. No matter whether the Broncos win or lose Monday night’s game against the Bengals, the Chiefs will have a chance to win the division next week, the story said.
