Chiefs announce they are releasing Kareem Hunt.
From the Chiefs: "Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigation into the issue. As part of our internal discussion with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately."
From a fantasy perspective, Spencer Ware is the primary beneficiary and is coming in as a top 10 option this week in a good matchup against the Raiders.
Ware is an immediate pickup if he's available in your league. He has 36 touches on the year compared to just six for RB3 Damien Williams. Ware averaged 98 total yards and 0.36 touchdowns on 17.6 touches per game back in 2016 and was slated to be the Chiefs starter in 2017 until he tore his ACL in the preseason. Hunt then won the job and never looked back. Consider Ware a fantasy RB2 with RB1 upside for the rest of the season. Williams will likely get a handful of touches as a change-of-pace back behind Ware.
