Nico Collins will enter as the Texans top receiving option but won’t be worth more than a dart throw against the run-funneling defense of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Texans WRs Nico Collins (foot) and Chris Conley (neck) are questionable for Week 7 at the Arizona Cardinals.

The Texans need anyone on offense to try and compete against the Cardinals. Collins has the most upside between the two but is still more of a flex play.

Texans HC David Culley told reporters Wednesday that WR Nico Collins will practice in a limited role this week.

Collins has 21 days to get added to the active roster as a player on IR. His return is an added boost to a team with little receiving talent.

Texans placed QB Tyrod Taylor and WR Nico Collins on IR.

Both will have to miss at least three games. Taylor is dealing with a hamstring issue and Collins a shoulder. Mills will get the start at QB after coming on in relief. Mills is thrown to the fire early as it's a Thursday night game against the Panthers.

The expectation is right now Texans WR Danny Amendola (hamstring) won’t be able to go on Thursday night against the Panthers.

Amendola is the team's third WR but was more like the team's WR2 as he produced more than Collins through the first two weeks. With Amendola out, Collins and Conley could be in line to see more targets. However Davis Mills is now the starter, and the Texans aren't exactly safe plays in fantasy lineups.

Texans rookie WR Nico Collins is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a shoulder injury that he sustained in Sunday’s loss to Browns, per source.

Collins hasn't been a huge factor so far, but did add his second catch of the season in Week 2 with a 32-yard grab. Brandin Cooks remains the big threat in the offense at WR catching 9 passes for 78 yards and a TD.

Texans cut WR KeKe Coutee.

A name that has fluttered on the depth chart now officially out in Houston.

The release of Coutee is a bit of a surprise considering the Texans aren't necessarily loaded at the position. Outside of Cooks, a lot of playing time and targets will be up for grabs and among them should be Collins and Conley at this point.

David Culley did not have an update on the severity of WR Anthony Miller’s shoulder dislocation, but he said he is hopeful Miller will play this season.

The injury was called a “slight dislocation” immediately after the game. Miller previously underwent surgeries on his left shoulder after experiencing dislocations, however this injury was to his right shoulder. This will obviously set him back for any kind of significant playing time upon his return.

The Houston Texans unofficial depth chart on their website lists WR Chris Conley as the second starting wide receiver, according to Aaron Wilson. Anthony Miller and and KeKe Coutee are listed second behind Conley and Brandin Cooks. Nico Collins is as a WR6.

This is not a surprise according to Wilson, but on a team that is unsettled at the position, it is noteworthy to see Conley as a starter. The Texans should be an avoid in all drafts as long as Deshaun Watson is not under center.

Between how he’s absorbing the playbook and sharpening his route running while adapting to the NFL, Nico Collins figures into the Texans’ equation as a large outside wide receiver who can go up and get the football and defeat press coverage to gain separation on deep passes.

Collins opted out of Michigan's 2020 season, but that hasn't seemed to be a big issue thus far in camp. Collins is primarily an outside wide receiver and has been characterized by some as an old-school No. 1 wide receiver because he’s larger than most downfield targets. He's made some big play so far in camp, but the knock on him is he needs to do it more often and more consistently. He may be a name to watch, but the Texans QB situation could certainly hold him down this year.
