The Dallas Cowboys are executing the 2010 option on coach Wade Phillips, binding him to the team for next season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, and have more meetings with the coach planned for today.
Phillips met with owner Jerry Jones and top brass on Monday and there are more talks scheduled. The club has not moved to extend Phillips’ contract beyond 2010 at this point but Jones is comfortable with him as head coach for 2010. The Cowboys finished strong to win the NFC East and ended a long playoff victory drought as well, but then were drubbed, 34-3, by the Vikings in the divisional round on Sunday.
