Cowboys trade Crayton to Chargers for 7th

Patrick Crayton wanted out of Dallas. His wish was granted.

The Cowboys traded Crayton to the Chargers for a seventh-round pick in the 2011 draft, a league source said Friday, giving San Diego more depth while Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson holds out from the team.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones later confirmed that Crayton had been traded, but he didn't reveal what the Chargers gave up to acquire him. Jones also said the Cowboys dealt backup offensive tackle Pat McQuistan to the Miami Dolphins for "undisclosed considerations."

The Crayton deal came one day after his agent, Fred Lyles, told The Dallas Morning News that he would ask that the Cowboys release his client before Saturday's 6 p.m. ET deadline to set the 53-man roster.

Lyles said Friday that Crayton was happy to be traded.

"I haven't seen him this excited in while," Lyles told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "It's a done deal."

Fantasy Impact:

This is a positive move for Crayton's fantasy value, but he still isn't worth considering in anything but the deepest leagues. Ultimately Crayton will give Philip Rivers another option with Vincent Jackson out of the picture, but will likely only battle with Buster Davis for snaps as the 3rd WR.
