Daniel Thomas (hamstring) misses practice on Friday

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) missed practice on Friday.

Hamstring injuries aren’t new for Thomas, who missed time during training camp and the opener against New England with the same problem. He’s ranked eighth in AFC rushing and first among rookies with 202 yards in two games. He’s also sixth among those with 20 or more carries with an average of 4.9 yards per carry.

If Thomas can’t go, newly acquired Steve Slaton could be pressed into service. Slaton proved himself an all-purpose back in 2008 when he rushed for 1,282 yards. While Slaton hasn’t had much activity this season, rushing just seven times for 20 yards, he was only waived by Houston on Tuesday, so he should be in shape.

If not Slaton, then the bulk of carries would either go to Reggie Bush, whose hasn’t gotten the job done running inside all year, or Lex Hilliard, who has all of 26 career carries and never more than five in a game. His numbers this season: three carries, 5 yards, most if not all in short-yardage situations.

Fantasy Impact:

We don't expect Steve Slaton to get too much work after joining the Dolphins this week, so if Thomas misses Sunday's game, Reggie Bush will likely see the lion's share of the carries. The Chargers have been pretty good against opposing RBs this season.
