New Orleans head coach Sean Payton says safety Darren Sharper isn't likely to participate in full practices until training camp while he recovers from offseason knee surgery.
"He was in town this past week after he signed, rehabbing and working out, and he'll continue to do that and get himself ready," Payton said. "I think a realistic framework of when we'd expect him to be out practicing would be that training camp date as opposed to the minicamps."
Sharper was a wonderful IDP player last season, intercepting nine passes and scoring three touchdowns, and he's the kind of crafty veteran that doesn't need a lot of practice time to play well. However, it's highly doubtful he'll have the season he had last year, and could be overvalued in IDP leagues. A decline in Sharper's performance would also hurt owners who end up with the Saints defense in non-IDP leagues.
