David Johnson passes pass blocking test

There wasn’t much David Johnson's teammates needed him to prove Sunday.

They knew the Arizona Cardinals rookie was fast and strong. He had dedicated himself to learning the playbook and was mature beyond his years. They expected what he provided -- the 99 rushing yards on 22 carries and the two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown -- in a win over the Rams on Sunday.

But there was one thing that Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer wanted to see out of the running back: How well he could pass block.

“It’s the thing he had to prove in a live situation,” Palmer said. “He hadn’t had that many opportunities up until now but we had complete confidence in him.”

Fantasy Impact:

The story went on to say the Cardinals' offense went over the pressures they expected from the St. Louis Rams. Every question Palmer had, Johnson answered perfectly. His knowledge came through Sunday. This is a big deal for Johnson's future in terms of how much he's on the field, especially in obvious passing situations, and will help to keep Johnson a solid fantasy play going forward.
