Dez Bryant intends to play in Week 15

After meeting with a hand specialist who confirmed a fractured left index finger requiring surgery, WR Dez Bryant has informed the Dallas Cowboys that he intends to delay the operation and will attempt to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source said.

The Cowboys' medical staff will attempt to devise a means of protecting the finger that also enables Bryant to function as a wide receiver.

Bryant will be limited in practice on Thursday, a source said, and will catch a few passes to see how he feels. He most likely will wear a taped-up splint and be in constant talks with team trainers regarding his finger during practice to determine his comfort level.

If Bryant reinjures the finger, it could cause permanent stiffness, which would minimize his ability to catch passes.

Fantasy Impact:

It's admirable that he wants to play, but considering that the injury is to his hand -- a pretty important body part for a receiver -- we shouldn't expect Bryant's normal production. The good news for Bryant is that the Steelers will be without CB Ike Taylor on Sunday.
