Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said TE Will Dissly (Achilles) is ready to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. "Just making sure he's ready to go for his first game and we can play him as we want to,'' Carroll said.

It will be interesting to see how Carroll uses Dissly with new TE Greg Olsen since both have the ability to catch the ball and can command attention from opposing defenses. Dissly is a TE3 coming off of a second Achilles tear and competing with Olsen for targets.

Seahawks TE Will Dissly practiced with the team on Wednesday despite suffering a torn achilles tendon in Week 6 last year.

Dissly ran routes and caught passes in light drills as reporters watched from the sidelines. The Washington product has been productive on a per-game basis in what has been an injury-laden career to this point. Dissly has only finished eight regular season games in two seasons but has six career touchdowns and flashed great chemistry with Russell Wilson before going down last year. He will be eased into action and likely split snaps with Greg Olsen, but Dissly has sleeper appeal as a late-round tight end.

Dissly has already passed his physical, but the Seahawks will still ease him back slowly, the tweet went on to say. Dissly was having a great start to his season before the injury last year, and was a popular free agent pickup as a result. The team signed Olsen in the offseason.

Seahawks tight end Will Dissly was carted off the field in the second quarter of Sunday’s game at Cleveland with an Achilles tendon injury and did not return to Seattle’s 32-28 win.

Coach Pete Carroll described the injury as “serious” after the game.

It's a huge blow for the Seahawks and fantasy owners who snagged Dissly off the waiver wire. Dissly was injured on a play early in the second quarter when he cut to try to catch a pass from Russell Wilson in the end zone. Dissly crumbled to the ground untouched, was helped off the field and examined on the sideline, then carted off. Willson and Hollister are next up.
