Redskins RB Evan Royster woke up Wednesday morning with a sore knee, saying “I had trouble standing up it hurt so much. I was like, what’s going on? I got in here as quickly as I could.”
An MRI was negative and Royster said he felt much better Thursday and was able to do some light running. Doctors told him he just needed rest and that it was “nothing serious.” Royster said he anticipates only missing several days.
He doesn’t want to take his position on the team for granted.
“I don’t feel I’ve accomplished enough right now,” he said. “I still want to get out there and prove I deserve to be on this team. It’s a minor setback but hopefully I’ll still get the chance in the fourth game.”
Just add this to the pile of clues availabled to solve the mystery of the Redskins backfield. We're betting Royster gets first crack at the job, but if he fumbles or gets injured, or looks at Mike Shanahan the wrong way, he could be replaced.
