Fred Jackson to miss 3–8 weeks

The good news is it appears Bills RB Fred Jackson escaped a season-ending injury on Sunday when his right leg was awkwardly hyper-extended on a first-half carry against the Jets. At this point however, a prognosis on how long the Bills feature back will be out is unclear.

“It’s going to be a few weeks," said head coach Chan Gailey. "It’s not going to be three, but I don’t think it’s going to be eight, but it’s probably somewhere in there in between. Hopefully sooner than later.”

Jackson went for an MRI Monday to get a better look at his injured knee, but the inconclusive results clouded an accurate timetable for a possible return.

Fantasy Impact:

C.J. Spiller proved last season that he is a RB1 with Jackson out of the picture. He racked up an average of 106 total yards and 0.8 TDs per game over the final six weeks of 2011. Hopefully Jackson owners drafted Spiller as a handcuff, but if not they should target Alfred Morris on waivers in the hopes that he'll start in the short term. Jonathan Dwyer is another short-term fix. Owners should hold onto Jackson for now in case he comes back quickly or Spiller struggles in the starring role.
