After practicing fully on Wednesday for the first time since before Thanksgiving, Marion Barber looks close to a return from the strained calf injury that caused him to miss the last three games. The Cowboys will now have to decide what that means in their use of the other two backs.
"We just want to make sure we give each of them opportunities," head coach Jason Garrett said. "Felix has been the guy who's carried the most this season, so I don't see that trend changing, but we want to give Tashard opportunities and we want to see where Marion is physically, and if he's ready to go, give him some chances as well."
Even as the backfield tries to approach full strength for Saturday, Jones sat out practice on Tuesday and Wednesday with a shin contusion, Garrett saying he wants to make sure the runner is fresh because of the short week. Until then, the players themselves remain in the dark as to how they will be used against Arizona, which happens to have the NFL's 30th-ranked run defense.
This piece makes it seem like Felix will continue to get a bulk of the work with Choice getting his share as well with a mix of Barber. If the Cowboys get up in this game, and they really should, Felix may lose some touches in the second half. The matchup is a good one against a weak Arizona rush defense.
