Giants coach Tom Coughlin made it clear that this late in the season he can’t just start benching people because they’re making mistakes on the field. But he does have room to make an exception at running back, where Ahmad Bradshaw lost another fumble - - his fifth of the season - - and nearly lost another one before Coughlin saved him with a replay challenge.
Would Coughlin consider making a change there?
“You’ve got to be able to hang on to the football,” Coughlin said when asked about that possibility. “He certainly has earned the right to be out there. He had some outstanding games and played very well for us and will continue to work at this. But he’s obviously a guy that is very much a part of our offensive team.”
In other words, no. At least not yet. But Bradshaw - - who seemed extremely broken up about the game and his fumbles in the post-game locker room - - admitted he’s worried that Coughlin might eventually lose faith in him.
“Of course,” Bradshaw said. “Then again, all I can do is keep playing and try to make plays when I can.”
In fairness to Bradshaw, the one time he actually fumbled, he did have two hands on the ball as it was poked loose.
