The New York Jets have hired Tony Sparano as their offensive coordinator to replace Brian Schottenheimer.
The 50-year-old Sparano will be charged with improving an offense that finished 25th overall and further developing quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has been heavily criticized for not progressing as expected in his third season.
Fantasy Impact:
This will be Sparano's first job as an offensive coordinator, though he did call the plays for the Cowboys in 2006 as the assistant head coach. That year, the Cowboys were #5 in total offense and #4 in points per game, so there is some reason for Jets fans to be optimistic about the hire.
