Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a slight MCL sprain on Sunday in a loss to the Dolphins, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The diagnosis further complicates head coach Todd Bowles' decision to stay with the 33-year-old veteran amid a 3-6 season. Fitzpatrick threw another two interceptions on Sunday, extending his lead over all other quarterbacks.
Fitzpatrick briefly exited Sunday's loss to get a brace on the injured knee but returned. Bryce Petty, a 2015 fourth-round draft pick, was active behind Fitzpatrick on Sunday and would be the most likely replacement candidate should Fitzpatrick need to sit a week. Whether or not Fitzpatrick plays will come down to pain tolerance and Bowles' digression, the story said.
