The tweet went on to say Knox's timeline is to be determined, but the hope is he won’t miss much time, especially with the bye this week for the Bills. Knox actually threw a two-point conversion after he suffered the injury. Gilliam and Sweeney are next up on the depth chart but probably don't offer the fantasy production Knox has given this season. The Bills offense, though, has been pretty good too, putting up 35-plus points in each of the past three games. Among the positives has been the team’s leader in touchdown catches, tight end Dawson Knox.

The numbers are there as far as TDs go at least: Knox's four touchdown catches are the second-most in the NFL and tied for the most among tight ends (Bucs' Rob Gronkowski). He is tied with wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley for the most red zone targets (six) on the team and leads the team in red zone receiving yards with 29. The third-year tight end has at least one score in each of the past three games, the first Bills tight end to do that since Charles Clay in 2016. His hot touchdown streak extends to the 2020 postseason, which he finished with two scores, the story pointed out.

On the downside, he's not putting up huge receiving yards (averaging a career-high 36 yards per game), Knox has taken a step forward as both a receiver and a blocker in the running game, an area of his play both Allen and coach Sean McDermott praised after Sunday's 40-0 win over the Texans. If Knox is still on your wire, he may be worth a stash if he continues to emerge or you need a bye-week option.

The Bills had one of their most wide-open snap shares among tight ends against Seattle. In most games, they’ve had one top tight end available who gets the majority of snaps. In Dawson Knox’s first game back Sunday from a calf injury and the Reserve/COVID-19 list, he finished slightly behind Tyler Kroft in snaps. Knox’s 24 reps were six shy of Kroft’s 30, but the more intriguing development was the uptick in usage for undrafted rookie Reggie Gilliam. Against Seattle, Gilliam had 13 snaps, his highest share of the season.

The story added some of Gilliam's snaps came on goal-line plays, but the Bills worked Gilliam into offensive formations more. Outside of Kroft’s touchdown, the position overall was a non-factor in the passing game. Kroft’s 1-yard touchdown catch was the only attempt to a tight end the whole game. Were the Bills searching for answers at a position that’s been a big disappointment this season? The snap counts will be something to track next week against Arizona, the story went on to say.

The Bills also placed TEs Lee Smith, Tommy Sweeny and practice squad TE Nate Becker on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Tyler Kroft was actually away from the team for the birth of his daughter. Kroft will now take over for the time being as the starter while Knox recovers. Kroft is our No. 27 tight end for the week.
