Raiders HC Cable went ahead and declared Darren Mcfadden his starting running back for Monday night's opener against the visiting Chargers. He beat out Michael Bush and dethroned returning starter Justin Fargas, who hasn't practiced in more than two weeks with a hamstring injury. "I just think for everything that he is in terms of being multiple, running the football, catching the football," Cable said of his decision. "He's shown a high level of consistency all through camp and certainly brings some explosiveness like we're trying to build with this offense."
Fargas expected to practice Thursday night at The Coliseum, but Cable would rather shut him down as a safety precaution. He remains questionable for Monday but Cable will not rush him back.
"Right now I don't want to do anything to chance that because we're going to need that guy," Cable said.
