The Raiders are making some changes in their quarterback room.

Marcus Mariota, the backup quarterback who has been struggling with a strained pectoral muscle, has been placed on injured reserve. Under the NFL’s rules for the 2020 season, that means Mariota can return after three weeks.

DeShone Kizer, who spent last season with the Raiders, has been added to their practice squad. A 2017 second-round pick of the Browns, Kizer has some playing experience, both in Cleveland and in Green Bay, and could be called upon in an emergency.

Carr, of course, remains the starter but the only other healthy QB on the roster is Peterman at this point.

The Raiders had to make a move after signing Kizer over the weekend. Glennon will back up Carr with Kizer the QB3.

The Buffalo Bills waived Nathan Peterman on Monday, ending the tenure of the team's 2017 fifth-round pick who became known for his historically high rate of interceptions.

Peterman, 24, appeared in eight games in his two seasons in Buffalo and made four starts. On 130 career regular-season pass attempts, Peterman has thrown three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also threw an interception on one of his three pass attempts in last season's AFC wild-card playoff loss.

With Derek Anderson suffering a concussion, Bills QB Nathan Peterman is expected to start Sunday vs the Chicago Bears, per sources.

Unfortunately for Peterman he jumps right into a tough matchup against the Bears in Week 9. He obviously won't be at the top of our QB list this week as he enters the season completing 13 passes for 108 yards, a TD but four INTs.

Bills QB Josh Allen received a second opinion on his sprained elbow from Dr. James Andrews, and he doesn't need surgery.

The tweet went on to say that while he doesn't need surgery, the expectation as of now is Allen will miss at least two or three games, then be week-to-week from there, source said. Peterman or Anderson could start in Week 7 against the Bills.

On Monday when we reported on this, the team had not committed to Peterman as the starter. The team signed Anderson last week, so this obviously leaves the door open to move away from the struggling Peterman and instead go with the veteran Anderson.

Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen left Sunday’s loss to the Texans with a right elbow injury and coach Sean McDermott provided an update on Allen’s condition when he met with the media on Monday.

McDermott described Allen’s outlook as “week to week.”

HC Sean McDermott said "we'll see" and he'll know more Tuesday as far as whether or not Allen can play in Week 7. Peterman may not be a lock to start if Allen can't go, as the team signed the veteran Anderson last week.
