It’s officially official. Brock Osweiler passed his physical Monday morning and signed a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum of $775,000 to return as a backup quarterback to Trevor Siemian.
Osweiler will practice with the team Monday.
Osweiler’s return, a surprise to many, caps a wild 18 months that took from Denver to Houston as a handsomely paid free agent ($72 million for four years), then Cleveland via trade and now back to Denver.

Osweiler will assume the No. 2 quarterback spot in place of Lynch, the 2016 first-round pick who is nursing a shoulder sprain that will keep him out at least the first few weeks of the season, and probably longer. Lynch has been wearing a sling around his right him — his throwing arm — and will return when healthy, Elway said.
