Matt Schaub was watching rookie Derek Carr light it up in the preseason, but he didn’t think that had anything to do with him.
The supplanted Raiders quarterback admitted he was surprised to be benched in favor of the second-round pick
“I’m definitely disappointed, but it wouldn’t do me or the team any good if I just stood here and felt sorry for myself,” Schaub said, via Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com. “I only know how to handle things one way. That’s to move forward and stay productive and get myself ready each day so I’m prepared if called upon.”
We currently have Carr ranked #27 in our draft rankings, though it's not advisable to start him this week on the road against the Jets. His presence under center may ultimately be the best thing for the Oakland offense, though only time will tell.
