Reid: 'I've been honest with RB LeSean McCoy about Damien Williams'
The Chiefs open the season on Sunday at Jacksonville, and Andy Reid said he expects LeSean McCoy to see action behind starter Damien Williams.
“He knows what to expect,” Reid said of McCoy. “I’ve been very honest with him about Damien and how good of a football player he is. I think it’s a great situation for both of them and for the team. For where he’s at in his career, you’re talking about potentially a future Hall of Famer with the numbers and stats he’s put together here. Here he has an opportunity to come to what potentially is a good football team as we go forward and be a part of that.”
This could at least calm some nerves of Williams owners as we head into the season. Reading into this quote, it sounds like Reid explained to McCoy he'll backup Williams. Also good news for Williams owners is it will take McCoy some time to get up to speed with the Chiefs playbook, as this offense is different from the anything McCoy and Reid ran together in Philly.
