Aaron Rodgers was carted to the locker room in the first quarter of Sunday's game after taking a hard hit from Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. The two-time Most Valuable Player suffered a broken collarbone that could cause him to miss the rest of the season, the Packers announced.

Hundley will take over for the foreseeable future at QB. NFL Red Zone reported Rodgers missed seven weeks back in 2013 with a broken collarbone, but we're already seeing reports of the possibility Rodgers won't be back this year. Hundley downgrades the Packers receivers and it's possible the team turns to a more balanced attack, especially with RB Aaron Jones showing a spark last week against Dallas.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback was rolling out to his right with Barr pressuring him. As Rodgers threw, Barr hit him in the midsection and he landed on his throwing shoulder.

NFL Red Zone reported Fox's Jay Glazer said the Packers fear Rogers broke his collarbone. Red Zone also reminded us that Rodgers missed seven weeks with a broken collarbone back in 2013. We'll continue to keep you updated.

Don’t be surprised if Aaron Rodgers looks the way of Martellus Bennett early in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Sure, Bennett has been a focal point for the Green Bay Packers’ offense, but the gem of general manager Ted Thompson’s free-agent class hasn’t quite taken off as many expected.

Rodgers wants that to change.

“We’ve got to get Marty involved early,” Rodgers said after Bennett caught six passes in last Thursday’s win over the Chicago Bears.

It was a rough three games to start the season for Bennett, who dropped two passes (it would have been double that had two drops not been wiped out by penalty) against the Falcons and one against the Bengals. His three drops rank tied for first among tight ends with Jimmy Graham and tied for third in the league among all players. Bennett was targeted seven times against the Bears catching six but for a total of just 39 yards. With injuries to Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery, Bennett could be a valuable target.

Making his preseason debut Saturday night, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasted no time connecting in the red zone with tight end Martellus Bennett on the opening series of Green Bay’s 21-17 win over Washington at FedExField.

Rodgers capped a 15-play, 75-yard drive that ate nearly 8 minutes off the clock in lofting a fade to Bennett in the corner of the end zone, which the former Pro Bowler pulled down for a 3-yard touchdown.

“I’m pretty athletic,” said Bennett, who has caught at least 50 passes in each of his last five NFL seasons. “I think people tend to forget that at times. I try to go get the ball when I can.”

Bennett had a career-high seven TDs last year even though he was pretty banged up most of the year in New England, which could have limited his production. We rank Bennett eighth on our TE list and could be a nice value at the position in the late seventh round in 12 team leagues. A comparable for Bennett’s likely production is Jermichael Finley, who averaged 3.7 catches for 46 yards and 0.34 touchdowns (10.3 PPG) in 38 games from 2011 to 2013.

Aaron Rodgers probably won’t play much this preseason; that’s nothing new for a quarterback who played only two series in one exhibition game last season. But he won’t be easing his way into training camp, either.

Just like last summer, when coach Mike McCarthy said he would be “conscious” of his quarterback’s training camp pitch count, the Packers will chart how many balls Rodgers throws before the regular-season opener. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be any less than he’s thrown in past camps.

Aaron Rodgers is far from old. But he’s also not in denial about where he is in his career.

The 33-year-old Packers quarterback told the NFL Network he’s still feeling good, but knows what’s in front of him.

“I think I’m on the back nine of my career,” Rodgers said. “But I think I’m just kind of starting the back nine. This will be my 10th year starting, I got to sit for three years. So I’m not the typical 13-year pro, having the opportunity to sit for three years and not take the wear and tear to learn the game.”

As the story said, of course if you extend the golf metaphor literally and he’s halfway finished, that could mean another 10 years, putting him into Tom Brady-if-he-ever-gets-old territory. But it’s hard to think about the eventual end, when Rodgers is playing at his best right now. He threw 40 touchdowns and just seven interceptions last year, and is about to do some unprecedented things in terms of career statistics, the story went on to say. Current and potential owners shouldn't worry too much about the end at this point.

Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson was knocked out of Sunday's wild-card win against the New York Giants with a rib injury in the second quarter.

While Packers coach Mike McCarthy did not say whether Nelson broke any ribs, there was concern after the game that the injury might keep Nelson out of next Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Cowboys.

"I obviously have concern for Jordy," McCarthy said. "I don't have the information yet."

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said "it would be a huge loss for us" if Nelson were unable to play.

"But [Geronimo Allison] has been playing a lot for us and he's been playing effectively," Rodgers said. "Randall [Cobb] being back healthy -- you know I said this week in my press conference we're better with 18 [Cobb's jersey number] on the field. And he showed it tonight, made a ton of plays for us. He was excellent. And having him out there is going to help. But you know Geronimo is going to have to step up and play extended time if Jordy is going to be out."

If Nelson is out versus Dallas (which looks likely), Allison will pick up most of his snaps. The Jeff Janis truthers will have to hope for another injury or two.
