San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews suffered minor injuries in a car crash and is listed as "day to day."
The California Highway Patrol says Mathews lost control of his BMW while entering the Interstate 8 freeway Monday and hit another car. A CHP officer said Mathews might have been driving too fast, but no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The other driver wasn't hurt.
Mathews told U-T San Diego that he was hurrying to the team hotel after watching a movie at home and overcompensated when his car drifted.
Mathews said he banged up his elbow a little bit. The 2010 first-round draft pick said the next day he felt as sore as if he had played four games.
This is probably nothing to worry about but worth watching as training camp proceeds.
