Pierre Thomas is back on the practice field and consequently a smile is back on his face.
The Saints running back cut on his injured left ankle today for the first time since Sept. 26 when he sprained it in the fourth quarter of a game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Officially, he is listed as "did not practice" on the league's daily participation report, but Thomas suited up in full gear and worked in individual drills for the second consecutive day. He did not take part in team drills, but ran on the side to improve his conditioning.
Thomas said he did not experience much swelling in the joint but said it remains sore. He said the ankle is not 100 percent healthy, estimating it's "in the high 70s or high 80s."
He said there's no timetable for his return but added that he's more positive about the recovery than at any time during the rehab process.
