Schefter: Browns WR Josh Gordon still looking at a multi-game suspension
Both sides, NFL and NFLPA, hoping to finalize a new drug policy tonight in which suspensions will wind up being overturned.
Schefter appeared on ESPN's NFL Insiders today and said if NFL/NFLPA agreement is approved, Browns WR Josh Gordon would still be suspended for some games.
This situation is very much up in the air, but it appears that Gordon will play this year. The question is -- how much? Schefter suggested a 6-10 game suspension. If they include time served (the first two weeks), then Gordon could return in Week 8 under a six-game suspension and Week 12 under a 10-game suspension. It's unclear what the rationale would be for a partial ban. Either his failed test would have been negative under the new rules or it wouldn't. Stay tuned.
