Jets released Le’Veon Bell.
Related players: La'Mical Perine, Frank Gore
The Jets tried to trade Bell for weeks, dating back to last year’s trade deadline. There were no takers, Schefter said. Tonight they released him. Bell now is a free agent. Schefter quoted Spotrac in another tweet saying Bell’s release leaves behind $15M of dead cap in 2020, and another $4M in 2021 to the Jets. Bell earned $28M across 18 games played for the Jets. The Jets will likely see what they have in Perine going forward and he should probably be picked up this week on the waiver wire. Expect Gore to get some work as well, but the Jets offense is likely going to be a rough-go for fantasy owners.
