Lions RBs D'Andre Swift (groin) and Jamaal Williams (chest) were limited Friday according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Neither is considered an issue ahead of Monday's game against Green Bay.

The only way to feel good about either popping up on the injury report is if they're set to play Monday without an injury designation.

While this is likely just a case of the Lions playing it safe with their star running back, it is important to note that Swift dealt with a groin ailment during camp, so an aggravation is possible. However, the Lions play on Monday night, so he still has two more days to log a full practice session and ease the concerns of Lions fans and fantasy managers alike. Swift did not play this preseason because of a groin injury and several Lions coaches have said they were worried about his early season workload, Birkett went on to say. He added that always seemed like a nudge to get and keep him on the field. It remains to be seen what Swift's workload will be, but it's very likely Williams will also have a role.

But if Swift isn’t ready to go Week 1, Williams would be the bell cow. Williams could have had stand alone value even with Swift in the lineup, so he's worth targeting in upcoming drafts.

Swift has been slowed by a sore groin that has held him out of the majority of team drills during camp, the story said. Williams, the former Packers running back who signed a two-year deal with Detroit this offseason, has repped as the No. 1 running back for the majority of camp. He’s looked good doing it too, the story sent on to say. Williams should still have a significant role this year.

Free-agent RB Todd Gurley is in Detroit today to visit with the Lions, per source. If he were to sign with Detroit, Gurley would be reunited with Jared Goff and be in the backfield with another former Georgia standout, D'Andre Swift.
