Even more convinced now than I was two hours ago that it’ll be Carson Wentz under center in Week 1 for the Colts.

There have been videos of Wentz doing drills going around Twitter on Monday. As Keefer said, setbacks can happen for sure, but Wentz absolutely looked like a guy today who’ll be ready to go in three weeks.

This is certainly a positive change from the initial outlook of Wentz’s injury when he was thought to be sidelined 5-12 weeks. It may still be a bit before he’s 100 percent but Wentz seems to be well ahead of schedule after getting his surgery. This is also good news for the Eagles, who get a first-round pick in 2022 if Wentz plays 75 percent of the offensive snaps or 70 percent and the Colts make the playoffs.

Colts QB Carson Wentz has been at practice the past six days without a protective boot or cast according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic. This fits the most recent news that Wentz could be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

While Wentz being free of restrictive protection is as positive as it gets, the process to getting into game shape is what matters with Wentz's return. Fingers crossed his timeline isn't rushed with the constant positive news and we get a full season of the new Colts quarterback.

Keefer went on to say in his tweet that Wentz begins rehab this week. While it's positive news, Reich also declined to specify if the team has any update on where he'll fall in the 5-12 week timetable. Reports have said Wentz has a shot to be ready Week 1.

Ravens WR Sammy Watkins left the practice field early with a trainer.

There wasn't any more specific news on Watkins, but perhaps most important thing to note is the Ravens were without their top-three WRs for the last hour of practice, and perhaps longer if the injuries linger. Brown (hamstring) and Bateman (groin) are also sidelined.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted Wednesday morning that Jacob Eason and Sam Ehlinger are practicing/competing for the back-up quarterback job, which puts Wentz's recovery timeline closer to five weeks than 12 as originally expected after foot surgery.

The same goes for OG Quenton Nelson who underwent the same surgery days later. While a return for the start of the NFL season is the best case scenario for Wentz, concerns about his mobility and game readiness will deservedly be questioned. A healthy Wentz is also great news for the offensive weapons on the Colts.

Steelers WR James Washington has requested a trade according to multiple sources including Adam Schefter of ESPN. Dave Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com also writes that the additions of Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool via the NFL Draft and JuJu Smith-Schuster re-signing add to Washington's request. Ray-Ray McCloud played ahead of Washington during the Hall of Fame game August 5.

It also matters that Pittsburgh drafted Najee Harris with the expectation of running the ball more. Washington is a starting-caliber receiver that stretches the field. If he does end up being moved, Washington will go from fantasy irrelevancy to late-round flyer depending on his landing spot.

HC Frank Reich says Wentz had an old foot injury dating back to perhaps high school according to doctors. Over time, the broken bone came loose and caused pain. Reich said the decision on surgery was very clear cut for their doctors and outside doctors, according to the tweet. Other tweets on the matter have the Colts optimistic Wentz can return on the earlier end of the timeline. Wentz will be able to throw during walkthroughs and the team added in 2-3 weeks they should have a better idea of Wentz's overall timeframe. For now, Eason is the team's QB1.

The hope is the rest will allow Wentz to avoid surgery and be on track to play in Week 1 against the Seahawks. If the rest doesn’t immediately help, then surgery may be the answer and it’s unknown how long he would be out for if he does have to get surgery. Jacob Eason I has been getting time running as the first-team quarterback while Wentz is out and the Colts also signed Brett Hundley. At the very least, the connections on offense could be a bit shaky from the outset once Wentz does return and gets the timing down with the offense.
