The Houston Texans have reportedly agreed to a four-year extension with QB Deshaun Watson worth an average of $39 million per year.
The deal also reportedly includes a $27 million signing bonus. Details of the contract are still coming but it was likely the Texans we’re heading in this direction with Watson, after Patrick Mahomes broke the bank earlier this offseason. Good timing too, as the Texans are just a few days away from opening the NFL season against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (the team they blew a 24-0 lead against in last year’s Divisional Playoffs if you recall).
Watson is in store for another strong fantasy season, despite the team trading star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. He is currently our No. 4 quarterback in redraft rankings.
And Lamar Jackson can now smell the money coming.
