The Houston Texans have reached agreement on a five-year, $43.5 million contract with running back Arian Foster that includes a hard guarantee of $20.75 million, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Foster will make $18 million this season and $30 million in first three years of deal, the source said.
Foster was a candidate to receive the Texans' franchise tender if the sides couldn't agree to a new contract by Monday at 4 p.m. ET, the deadline for teams to use their franchise tags on pending free agents.
In his second season as the Texans' starter, Foster ran for 1,224 yards and 10 touchdowns and made his second Pro Bowl this season despite sitting out three games.
The deal guarantees that Foster will be a top 5 pick in most 2012 fantasy drafts. Despite missing three games, Foster still finished the season as the #4 fantasy RB.
