There is a big difference between walking well and running and cutting as a running back, but it's still a positive for the Chargers that Ladainian Tomlinson is walking without hint of a limp as his ankle continues to improve.
“He is making progress,” head coach Norv Turner said.
Still, the Chargers will weigh the benefit of another week off with Tomlinson and Merriman.
“For a guy to try to talk himself into thinking he's healthy or a guy to try to play at less than a high level of health, he's not going to help himself and he's not going to help us,” Turner said.
Turner hinted at being careful with Merriman, who played just two snaps Sunday against Miami due to a groin strain, because he doesn't “want this to become something chronic.”
Merriman said, “It feels a lot better than last week.”
