Jets DE Shaun Ellis, speaking on a conference call with reporters, said he will have surgery next week to insert screws in his broken left hand. He would've done it this week, except it will take more than a week for the skin to heal properly. If the Jets make the Super Bowl, Ellis should be able to play because of the two-week break.
Ellis said there's no doubt he will play Sunday against the Colts in the AFC Championship Game.
He hurt his hand on the first play of Sunday's win over the Chargers, saying his hand "just gave out" while engaging with an offensive lineman. He went to the locker room to get it casted, giving him the "club" look. He was limited through the rest of the game.
