FA WR Matt Jones has sequestered himself in a two-bedroom villa at IMG Academies in Bradenton for the better part of the last three months, Jones has spent more than $15,000 to train feverishly in seclusion with a team of specialists — ranging from nutritionists to mental-conditioning experts — for the second chance that falls into the hands of so many NFL players these days.
“Matt Jones deserves a second chance,” said former teammate Maurice Williams, a Jaguars tackle. “We all make mistakes, do things we aren’t proud of. He messed up and was honest about it. He knows he can’t afford to make any more mistakes.”
Jones’ agent, Dave Butz, said he’s spoken with several teams about possible interest in his client. Nothing concrete seems imminent.
