Chargers Beat: WR Tyrell Williams should see plenty of touches

Tyrell Williams should get plenty of opportunities and targets as San Diego’s No. 3 receiver.

The Chargers ran three-receiver sets 73 percent of the time in 2015 -- No. 7 in the NFL.

With the return of Ken Whisenhunt as the team’s offensive coordinator, San Diego probably won’t be in three-wide that often. However, Williams should also be on the field at times when the Chargers go with just two receivers.

The second-year pro also has developed a good rapport with quarterback Philip Rivers. Williams finished with seven catches for 83 yards during preseason play, so the Chargers were trying to get him the football.

Fantasy Impact:

We've been hearing Williams' name a lot in Chargers news this summer, even before Stevie Johnson went down for the year. Williams is a unique player. At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Williams has the short-area quickness and explosive burst of a smaller guy, yet can win contested catches and bring down balls in the middle of the field as a bigger target, the story said. It added that he could be a vertical deep threat.
