Streaming Defenses: Week 7 Fantasy Football Targets

Generally, defenses have to be available on the waiver wire in at least 40% of Yahoo fantasy leagues to be eligible as a streaming option. This ensures we are talking about defenses that are readily available.

Last week, the Saints were our top-scoring defense with 32 fantasy points against the Lions and finished as the DST1 in most formats. In Week 6, our targets averaged 11.3 points and, overall, our streaming picks are averaging 10.5 FP/game.

Continue to target a defense with a home matchup or facing a below average or rookie QB or making a long road trip. Week 7 is here, so let's look the defensive options we're targeting this week:

Carolina Panthers vs. CHI

I'm noticing fantasy owners jumping off the Carolina bandwagon, but this isn't the week to do it. The Panthers have a favorable home matchup against a bad offense with a rookie QB.

Julius Peppers has found the fountain of youth and has registered a sack in all six games this season. Kawann Short and Mario Addison each have three sacks and have combined for eight QB hits, so they are a threat to get to the QB. Addison has a favorable matchup with RT Bobby Massie.

Luke Kuechly is in concussion protocol, so let's hope he's good to go this week. Shaq Thompson and Thomas Davis are solid outside linebackers who are capable of making big plays. They each have two sacks this season.

The secondary has yet to cause an INT, however, Daryl Worley does have four defended passes and James Bradberry sometimes gets the call to rush the passer.

The Panthers' defensive line is capable of generating pressure, which can rattle rookie QBs. The Bears have scored 20+ points just twice this season and are allowing the fourth-most schedule-adjusted fantasy points aFPA to opposing defenses. Carolina is available in 47% of leagues.
